Botanical ingredients Plant research

Tradition meets research

A modern presentation of a TCM-inspired composition

The formula combines botanical extracts, a medicinal mushroom and bee pollen. Many of these raw materials have a long history in Asian medical traditions; modern research mainly investigates their phytochemicals, polysaccharides, alkaloids and ginsenosides.

  • Specific daily amounts rather than generic effect claims

  • Clear labelling of human and preclinical evidence

Scientific context

What studies on individual ingredients report

Some components have been examined in small human studies; for many rare TCM extracts, evidence is largely limited to laboratory or animal models.

i

Important: The linked papers investigate individual plants, extracts or isolated substances—not IMUSAN as a complete product. Extract type, dose, duration and study population differ. Preclinical findings do not prove an effect in humans.

Human studyPreclinical / laboratory
Human study 2002

Green tea extract & antioxidant markers

A blinded crossover study in 16 men examined green tea extract after a low-flavonoid diet. Measured antioxidant capacity rose transiently after meals, while no persistent fasting effect was demonstrated.

Context

Small sample, short duration and a different catechin dose; no evidence for disease outcomes or for IMUSAN.

Open original publication · PMID 12064344 ↗
Human study 2021

Red ginseng & immune-cell counts

In a randomised double-blind trial, 100 adults took 2 g Korean Red Ginseng or placebo daily for eight weeks. T-cell, B-cell and white-blood-cell counts increased in the ginseng group; cold incidence did not differ significantly.

Context

The study product and dose are not equivalent to the 36 mg ginseng extract in IMUSAN.

Open original publication · PMID 33437171 ↗
Human study 2004

Reishi & short-term antioxidant capacity

A small double-blind crossover study in healthy adults observed short-term increases in plasma and urinary antioxidant capacity after Reishi intake. Clinical outcomes were not assessed.

Context

Very small sample, short exposure and substantially higher Reishi amounts than the IMUSAN daily serving.

Open original publication · PMID 14630595 ↗
Preclinical 2016

Agrimonia pilosa & inflammatory signalling

In LPS-stimulated macrophages, isolated agrimonolide reduced pro-inflammatory mediators and influenced COX-2, iNOS, MAPK and NF-κB pathways.

Context

A cell model using an isolated compound; it does not establish an oral effect of the extract in humans.

Open original publication · PMID 27288920 ↗
Preclinical 2020

Corydalis & NF-κB signalling

In cultured macrophages, Corydalis extracts and alkaloids such as dehydrocorydaline reduced TNF-α and IL-6 release and inhibited NF-κB activation.

Context

Laboratory evidence only; concentrations and bioavailability cannot be transferred to IMUSAN intake.

Open original publication · PMID 33299450 ↗
Preclinical 2019

Liquorice & molecular inflammatory markers

Liquorice extract and selected constituents reduced nitric-oxide production and the expression of TNF-α, COX-2 and iNOS in a macrophage model, partly involving NF-κB.

Context

In-vitro evidence. Liquorice may also require particular caution with certain conditions and medicines.

Open original publication · PMID 31083310 ↗
Preclinical 2020

Pyrola rotundifolia & antioxidant assays

A phytochemical laboratory study characterised phenolic compounds in the leaves and measured antioxidant activity in chemical test systems.

Context

Chemical assays are not human studies and cannot demonstrate a health benefit after oral use.

Open original publication · PMID 32290223 ↗
Preclinical 2014

Isodon rubescens / oridonin

Oridonin, a constituent of Isodon rubescens, reduced glial activation, inflammatory mediators and NF-κB signalling in a mouse model.

Context

An animal model using an isolated compound; no direct transfer to humans or to the included 20:1 extract.

Open original publication · PMID 25121593 ↗
